LampCraft was begun by two friends in the summer of 1998. Alan
Medak, a
"serious"; amateur musician and a lighting industry professional, longed for a good battery operated music-stand light.
Rich Puz, an escapee from the corporate world, was eager to dive into the world of the internet and see if he could earn a living applying a career's worth of
PR and communications experience.
LampCraft is the result of that partnership -- a small internet-
based business dedicated to creating high-quality lighting products for musicians and other specialized markets.
Alan Medak
is a long-time amateur musician (Horn) who plays with local community orchestras and bands and is a ten-year member of the QuintEssential Winds woodwind quintet. Alan's professional background includes over a dozen years in the lighting industry where he has introduced a number of energy-efficient lighting products used by lighting contractors across the U.S.
Rich Puz, neither a lighting expert nor a musician, is a former corporate communications director at a major public utility where he held a variety of public affairs and communications positions. His interests in the arts lie in the realm of books and cinema.
